This Friday is National Wear Red Day®. It is a movement to bring about awareness between Women and the risks of heart disease and stroke. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (N.I.H.) in the U.S, Coronary Heart Disease is the “#1 killer of women in the United States”. By wearing red this Friday you are bringing attention to this startling fact.
Did you know that signs of a heart attack can be different between men and women? As with men, the most common heart attack symptom in women is chest pain. But it’s important to note that women are more likely to experience other common symptoms, such as shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting and back or jaw pain.
Symptoms of a heart attack:
• Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back.
• Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
• Shortness of breath, with or without chest discomfort.
• Other signs such as breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or becoming lightheaded.
So join us this Friday and wear red along with Anderson’s Nutrition to bring awareness to Women and Heart Disease!
