IBS
(Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Before I started working with Anderson’s Nutrition, I had been suffering with very uncomfortable IBS symptoms. I was also trying to do the Low FODMAP diet on my own. My dietitian has been wonderful to work with and so helpful. The digestive enzyme she suggested, and her help in how to add high FODMAPS to my diet have been a godsend. My IBS symptoms have been greatly reduced. I look forward to continuing my work with my dietitian.

How We Help

Anderson’s Nutrition has a realistic approach that makes the process enjoyable and helps you meet your goals. We believe in simple, small changes that will make the biggest difference in your life. Our dietitians will provide evidence-based research, food product ideas, and food label-reading tips in general.

The best way to treat and prevent the triggering of symptoms is to live a healthy lifestyle, which includes stress management, eating a healthy diet, and exercising. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics explains more of the causes and triggers here.

As you may know, there may be certain foods that cause gas, diarrhea and/or bouts of constipation. Getting started on an elimination diet or low-FODMAP diet can be extremely restrictive at first and may be new territory for you. Although not permanent, these diets are always individualized, which is why it is crucial to work with a registered dietitian for your meal planning, food choices, and grocery shopping.

We can help you navigate:

  • Reading labels
  • Managing conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and others along with your GI-related symptoms
  • Getting adequate nutrients while following a restricted diet
  • Meal ideas, meal planning, and what to look for at restaurants in detail
  • Possible supplements if needed

Evidence has shown that learning to plan for and manage a GI-related condition contributes to a higher quality of life and a decreased likelihood of experiencing symptoms.

Education

Our trained experts will work with you to create realistic and customized goals because we want to ensure long-lasting results. We use small changes, focusing on the why and how so that you can effectively prevent nutritional deficiencies and avoid adverse bowel-related symptoms.

Our registered dietitians will educate you on foods that are best for you and your condition. We can give you the tools to help manage stress, meal plan, and navigate your daily life. Generally, you will receive recommendations for meal planning to help avoid triggers along with proper nutrients your body needs on a daily basis.

Your GI dietitian expert will:

  • Assess and evaluate dietary intake and health status
  • Determine where potential nutrient deficiencies may exist
  • Identify adequate energy needs
  • Educate on serving size and food group recommendations for overall health
  • Assist with the implementation of doctor-recommended dietary interventions
  • Create a plan to further avoid the trigger food/foods

Coaching

Behavior change can be hard. That is why our dietitians are trained in behavior-change coaching, to help you identify barriers and create realistic strategies so that you can reach your goals and accomplish difficult tasks.

Meal Planning Tools

Getting meals on the table requires planning, and planning also requires time which is why we have made it easy with our daily meal planner. With just a click of a button, you can get a GI friendly grocery list of all you need for your meals for the week. The meal planner contains specific recipes catered to help with your conditions and needs so you can be on your way to a healthy lifestyle.
