We have a full team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) specializing in pediatric nutrition. We work with all ages, infants through adulthood. Whether the concern is healthy eating habits or medical conditions, our pediatric nutrition dietitians are trained to provide a plan and assist in the implementation.
It can be frustrating navigating through all the information that is available, especially when you’re not sure what is the best option. We focus on positive eating behaviors to grow healthy little humans, in addition to realistic goals that families can implement. We also provide education and counseling on medical concerns or diseases that require nutrition intervention.
Our pediatric nutrition team is not only dietitians, some of them are moms too! They have personal and professional experience with little ones concerning food selections, medical conditions, and picky eating!
What to Expect
Anderson’s Nutrition has a realistic approach to pediatric nutrition that makes the process enjoyable while helping your child to grow with happy and healthy memories around food. We believe in simple and small changes that will make the biggest difference in their life.
Education
We provide education on a lifestyle that is sustainable for your child with selective eating, negative behaviors, or comorbidities. Recommendations will be given for energy, protein, and other nutritional requirements. This process can be expanded through the addition of meal planning support. You’ll learn how to design and live that new lifestyle, while using the latest research to make informed decisions.
Throughout the sessions, our pediatric nutrition dietitian will:
- Assess and evaluate dietary intake and health status, determining where potential nutrient deficiencies may exist.
- Identify if there is adequate energy/calorie intake to support growth and development.
- Educate on serving size and food group recommendations for your child’s age and specific situation.
- Assist with the implementation of doctor-recommended dietary interventions.
- Provide tips on increasing food acceptance and quality of nutrition.
- Promote positive body image and behaviors around food and drink.

Tween + Teens
Sports Nutrition
Active bodies need to have proper nutrition to grow and perform. Learning starts with understanding caloric intake and what foods will best provide energy for your body. Then, we start to understand how to implement these nutrition goals to sustain activity without strain on the body.
Healthy Eating Behaviors
As children & teens are still growing, it is a critical time to intervene before they go down a path that won’t benefit their future. We focus on positive education to allow your teen to explore new foods and learn why it is important to have balance in their diet.
Influences that affect your tween or teen
Teens hear many different voices. These voices can come from the media, friends, and family members who each play a role in influencing a teenager. Most teens don’t feel comfortable in their bodies, are unsure of what is truly “healthy”, and have misconstrued views on healthy nutrition. Teens often benefit from the insight of a registered dietitian to help them feel more confident in their nutrition choices.
Eating Disorders
Does your child worry about their weight or talk negatively about their body, or do you notice disordered eating habits or signs in your teen?
Disordered eating and eating disorders have significantly increased since COVID. Learn more from Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. If you think your child has signs of disordered eating, you can schedule an evaluation for an assessment.

Gastrointestinal Issues
Constipation
Constipation is a common gastrointestinal issue, in fact it is estimated that 1 in 20 kids suffer from constipation. This condition is defined as having fewer than 3 bowel movements per week. The management and prevention of constipation can be done through diet intervention.
Our dietitians work with each family to create a plan that will work with their lifestyles and budget to aid in relief and prevention. We meet with the family virtually or at one of our offices to provide education, resources, supplement review, and a plan. After that, your dietitian will determine the frequency of visits if more are needed. You can book a consultation online or by contacting us!
Celiac Disease
Autoimmune diseases such as Celiac Disease can be diagnosed during childhood by the doctor. This disease can be managed through diet and at times supplementation. Children with Celiac Disease are more at risk for nutrient deficiencies and low weight. Our dietitians will conduct a nutrition assessment and create a plan to address the areas of concern.
The ongoing management of the diet can challenging to navigate. It is important to learn how to manage the diet, the prevention of cross-contamination, and how to dine out and attend parties. You can work with your dietitian to learn what foods are safe and tips on how to control the environments.

My dietitian assisted me with helpful resources when shopping for gluten-free foods as my 4yo has Celiac. She assisted me when I would find natural nutrition support or ADHD support supplements online to add to my kids’ diets as I was unsure if she/they were getting enough especially my youngest, Tammy would take the time and research each one and gives me the pros and cons from a nutritionist perspective so I could make the best decision for my child/ren. She’s been amazing to work with always willing to talk things through with me.
Allergies, Food Restrictions & Food Intolerances
Food allergies can be hard to manage, especially when there are multiple members of the household. Ingredients are hidden and it makes meal planning very difficult. Subsequently, identifying an intolerance can be tricky too!

Growth Issues
You may have heard the term failure to thrive from your doctor, or that your little one is not where they should be on the growth curve. If either are the case, typically an increase calories and other key nutrient are recommended.
Knowing how much food and what types of food your child needs may not be clear. Given that, we want to fuel the body with healthy food and create healthy habits to increase growth vs high saturated fat foods.

Individuals, children through adults, on the autism spectrum are at increased risk for obesity at 2x the rate of their typical peers. Additionally, these individuals face an increased risk of nutrient deficiencies and malnutrition.

And more…
There are many more conditions and diseases that may affect the nutrition of your little one. Our certified Pediatric Nutrition Dietitians can assist you by creating a plan that works for your little one and your family.
Anderson’s Nutrition was recommended to us by our pediatrician after my daughter Emma was diagnosed with Pica. We had noticed that Emma, who was 4 at the time, had been eating dirt and chalk and she was beyond the years of normal toddler exploration. What we later discovered is that she craved these non-food items because her iron levels were very low due to the high volume of milk she was drinking on a daily basis. Our dietitian helped us map out a plan to drastically lower her intake of milk and replace it with the nutrients her body craved through balanced meals. Emma’s diet has dramatically improved, and she no longer goes for non-food items. Our dietitian was extremely helpful, so easy to speak with, and great with kids. I would highly recommend Anderson’s Nutrition.
Let your registered dietitian nutritionist help your teen adopt positive habits so they can grow strong, gain a healthy relationship with food, and optimize nutrition habits to feel more energized & prevent disease.
