Darcy Leon Burt graduated from Arizona State University with her B.S in Nutrition & Dietetics. She completed her dietetic internship with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Nutrition was a second career and college degree for her. After meeting so many people struggling with health issues related to diet and food choices, she felt drawn to a career that helps people feel empowered to make small changes that have lasting effects.
Darcy is passionate about helping others to live healthier and happier lives. This is done by implementing realistic changes that can have lasting results. Her approach to coaching is to create a personalized plan that works for each person’s unique needs and goals.
Darcy’s ideal client:
She enjoys working with clients that are ready to make small and sustainable changes that will lead to lasting results. First, she takes a look at your current nutrition and lifestyle, including food allergies, cooking skills, daily schedules, and food likes. Together with her clients, she creates an individualized plan that incorporates all the information. To make lasting changes, each client needs to be part of creating wellness goals and feel heard during the process.
Why is Darcy a registered dietitian nutritionist?
Darcy grew up in the Bronx, New York, where access to healthy and nutritious foods was not the norm for everyone. After college and starting a career in Emergency management, she shifted to wanting to give back in a way that affected her local communities day to day lives. While working at a local grocery store, she noticed people looking at food and questioning if it was healthy and how it would fit into their “diet” so they could lose weight. She decided to pursue a degree in nutrition to help people gain the knowledge they need to be empowered to make food choices that are best for them. She has extensive experience with food allergies as well, due to dealing with several herself.
I want my clients to truly know that eating balanced for our health does not mean giving up all the foods you love. Eat the foods you love, add the foods you need and find the balance on their plate.
How does Darcy stay healthy?
Darcy practices yoga and gets out to walk most days of the week. Most of her time is spent chasing around her children and high energy pitbull. Darcy grew up with big Sunday dinners and eating foods from all over the world. Meal time is a time to slow down and connect with those around the table. Darcy teaches her kids the importance of having a good relationship with food. All foods can be part of a balanced diet.
