How it Works

REEVUE is a direct oxygen measurement, calculating oxygen exhaled to calculate caloric burn. Using indirect calorimetry, the “gold standard” for metabolic rate, the chamber is able to accurately measure the ratio of oxygen consumption to exhalation, to analyze metabolism.

Benefits of Metabolic Testing

  • Establish a minimum number of calories your body needs to function at complete rest, without slowing down your metabolic rate.
  • Determine if your chronic dieting or history of significant weight fluctuations has influenced the efficiency of your body.
  • Better understand your total energy needs on a day of exercise compared to a rest and recovery day.
  • Eliminate use of standard calculations for estimated energy needs.
  • Faster physical results, including weight loss, gain, or body recomposition.

What To Expect

Preparing for your test:

This non-invasive test takes about 10-15 minutes. You’ll be asked to sit back, relax, and breathe. We will use a disposable MetaBreather mouthpiece, which uses a one-time value to measure inhalation and exhalation.

  • Avoid eating or drinking 4-5 hours before testing
  • Avoid exercise the day of testing
  • Avoid stimulants, such as caffeine, the day of testing (or at least 8 hours prior).
  • Avoid over-the-counter medications or dietary supplements the day of testing.
  • Wear comfortable clothes

Your Results

After completing the test, you will get a full report, calculating your total energy burn throughout the day. You can use this report to work with your Registered Dietitian and other healthcare providers to understand your metabolism better and create a customized treatment plan.
