Homemade Acai Bowl

A refreshing, antioxidant-rich treat, and a fantastic COVID-19 recovery breakfast!


When we have an illness, it is important to give our bodies foods that support natural recovery. It’s also important to support our immune system to help keep us from getting sick, too!

This homemade acai bowl provides us with antioxidants, micronutrients, and fiber, to help support a healthy immune system. But what do these things do?


ANTIOXIDANTS help to protect our cells from free radicals, and they fight the free radicals in our bodies.

MICRONUTRIENTS – such as vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium – help the body to support our immune system (and lots of other functions in the body)

FIBER feeds our gut microbiome, which studies show to support our immune system.


So now… how do we make it?!

Ingredients

For the smoothie bowl base:

-1 packet Sambazon pure unsweetened acai

-1/2 banana

-Splash of milk of choice

For the topping:

-1/2 banana, sliced

-1/2 cup berries

-1/4 cup granola

-1 Tbsp chia seeds

Directions

  1. Add the packet of unsweetened acai and 1/2 banana to blender with a splash of milk. Blend until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Pour smoothie base into a bowl. Garnish with sliced 1/2 banana, berries, granola, and chia seeds. Enjoy!
